Basic Forensic Photography Training
This course is geared for Sexual Assault Forensic Examiners. This program is sponsored by California Clinical Forensic Medical Training Center in conjunction with our training partner, the California District Attorneys Association. This one-day course offers basic instruction and hands-on experience related to the fundamental techniques of forensic photography.   It focuses on the basic forensic photography skills needed for documenting bodily injuries for victims of sexual assault, intimate partner violence, child physical and sexual abuse, and elder abuse.  The course is designed for healthcare professionals who have completed Adult/Adolescent Sexual Assault Forensic Examiner Training or Pediatric Sexual Abuse Forensic Examiner Training, to increase basic skills, knowledge and competence.

Course Objectives 

After attending this workshop, participants will be able to:

Outline and define the basic principles of forensic photography; Describe the various types of photo documentation equipment; List the criteria of a quality forensic photograph; Describe the system for security, storage, identification, duplication and retrieval; Include medical/legal issues in photographic protocols; Demonstrate working knowledge of the equipment to achieve a quality image; and Incorporate interactions with patients to enhance patient comfort with the process.
